TRANSPORT DIVISION

Bus travel has been growing four times as fast as airlines and nearly eight times as fast as railroads. Growing pollution in cities in Kenya necessitates and offers a big market for long haul buses. This has seen an increase in long haul buses operating from the infamous "Machakos" country bus station. These buses however don't offer the passenger the comfort of travel they deserve. The noise, shoving and pushing at the stage don't help either. Spurred on by passengers weary of crammed, rowdy country buses Rokim entered into transport business intent on taking a chunk of the travel business, by offering luxuriant buses with leather seats, wi-fi,phone charging points and TV screens to travelers. Now anxious passengers can stay wired to their cellphones and laptop computers while in transit, thanks to Rokim-Trans. "Rokim Trans intend to lift up the stigma that was long associated with county bus travel, completely," says Charles Njuki, a Director at Rokim Group limited who own Rokim Trans. "You're seeing passengers riding our buses now who would never have set foot in a coach several years ago." Not so long ago, the industry's dominant image of Mbukiya, Eldoret express & Nyamira express will have a run for their money from Rokim Trans. Rokim Trans operate from THIKA, to KISUMU and KISII via Nakuru and Narok respectively. Currently Rokim is operating two buses but is in the process of procuring two new luxury buses to make a fleet of four buses. This fleet is expected to increase to 8 buses by December 2016.

The New buses will feature roomy leather seats that recline almost into beds, on-board movies and free Wi-Fi service. "To get somebody out of a Rokim-Trans, which offers so much freedom of scheduling, you have to give them a good reason, ," Rokim Trans Manager Mr. Peterson Njuki says. We launched the bus transport division in 2015 in Nairobi named after our corporate name Rokim. "It wasn't easy — When we launched, our bus which was one could not even fuel itself. The bus could only carry a handful of passengers. "We lost a lot of money at first, a lot," Mr. C. Kimani says.

But an aggressive combination of marketing and Operations have now paid off.
New fleet incorporates 10 seaters. 45 seater, 57 seater as well as 62 seater buses. Download our flyer for more details.
